When to Call 911

Call 911 only for immediate threats to life, health, or property. This includes medical emergencies, fires, crimes in progress, and situations where someone is in immediate danger.

Non-Emergency Numbers

For non-emergency police matters, noise complaints, or general inquiries, contact your local non-emergency number. Many cities use 311 for non-emergency city services.

  • Stay calm and speak clearly
  • State your location first
  • Describe the emergency briefly
  • Follow the dispatcher's instructions
  • Don't hang up until told to
